UUID Decoder

Inspect UUID versions, variants and embedded timestamps locally.

Processing runs in your browser. Your input is not sent to DevToolsy.

How it works

Accept canonical UUIDs, compact hex, urn:uuid and braces, ignoring letter case. The report includes a normalized UUID, byte values, variant and version; v1, v6 and v7 timestamps are decoded when present.

Options and data fidelity

Inspect UUID version and variant. Only time-based v1, v6 and v7 contain an interpretable timestamp. Node fields do not prove a physical MAC address.

Working with the result

UUID v3/v5 name hashes cannot be reversed here. A node field may be randomly assigned, and v8 has application-defined bits. The report does not establish a person, device or creation event.

Yes. Results have copy and download actions. Changing inputs or generation settings invalidates the previous result.

Processing limits

Text input up to 1 MiB; User-Agent up to 16 KiB. Shorter limits apply to address and identifier fields. Up to 1,000 ULIDs, 10,000 placeholder words or 256 child subnets. Tasks time out after 10 seconds.

Frequently asked questions

Which UUID formats are accepted?

Accept canonical UUIDs, compact hex, urn:uuid and braces, ignoring letter case. The report includes a normalized UUID, byte values, variant and version; v1, v6 and v7 timestamps are decoded when present.

Which versions contain an embedded time?

Inspect UUID version and variant. Only time-based v1, v6 and v7 contain an interpretable timestamp. Node fields do not prove a physical MAC address.

Can a UUID reveal its original name or creator?

UUID v3/v5 name hashes cannot be reversed here. A node field may be randomly assigned, and v8 has application-defined bits. The report does not establish a person, device or creation event.

Is my input uploaded?
