How to use
- Choose a still PNG, JPEG or WebP image.
- Select the output format, quality and JPEG background as applicable.
- Select Convert image, compare the preview and download the result.
Choosing an image format
Format conversion is useful when a destination accepts a different image type or when you need to balance transparency and file size. The image keeps its pixel dimensions in this tool.
The output is a newly encoded image rather than a renamed file. Its size and appearance depend on the source, destination format, quality setting and browser encoder.
Transparency and quality
PNG supports transparency and ignores the quality setting. JPEG has no alpha channel, so transparent pixels are composited onto the background color you choose.
JPEG and WebP quality controls affect the new encoding. A higher value is not a guarantee of a smaller file or an exact match to the source bytes.

Supported files and processing
The converter accepts still PNG, JPEG and WebP within the displayed file-size and pixel limits. Animated PNG and WebP are rejected, and GIF, HEIC and AVIF are not accepted as input.
The file is decoded and redrawn locally with browser canvas APIs. Re-encoding may remove metadata, but this is not a dedicated metadata-sanitization workflow.
Saving the converted image
Download saves a new file with the selected output extension. Your original file is not overwritten; use Image Resizer if you also need to change width or height.
Still PNG, JPEG and WebP: 20 MiB, 24 megapixels and 8,192 pixels per side. Base64: 2 MiB. SVG: 1 MiB. File inspection: 1 GiB with only the first 256 bytes read. Browser codec support varies. No files are uploaded.
Frequently asked questions
Does changing the format change image dimensions?
No. The converter keeps the decoded image width and height. Use Image Resizer to change pixel dimensions.
Why did a transparent area become white?
JPEG cannot preserve transparency. Its transparent areas are filled using the selected background color, which defaults to white.
Are animated images supported?
No. Animated PNG and WebP are rejected, and GIF is not accepted. This converter is intended for still images.
Why is the converted file larger?
A different format or quality setting can use more bytes. Compare the displayed sizes and keep the version that suits your destination.
How do I save the result?
Use Download after conversion. This workspace exports an image file; it does not provide a clipboard image-copy action or upload the file.
