How to use

  1. Copy the live timestamp, or choose a conversion direction below it.
  2. Enter a value and check its unit and time zone.
  3. Copy a result; use Batch for line-by-line conversion and CSV or JSON export.

Unix time, units and readable dates

Unix time describes an instant relative to 1970-01-01T00:00:00Z. A readable date adds the calendar and clock representation for a selected time zone.

Seconds and milliseconds are common in APIs and logs, but they are not interchangeable. This converter also handles microseconds and nanoseconds without rounding the input through a JavaScript floating-point number.

Interpreting the input

Automatic unit detection is a convenience for common timestamp magnitudes. Select a unit explicitly when the source format is known, especially for unusual historical values.

Worked example
Input
1767225600.123456789 s · UTC
Result
2026-01-01T00:00:00.123456789Z

A fixed example; the time zone and precision are part of the calculation.

Dates, offsets and precision

Negative timestamps represent instants before the epoch. An ISO offset identifies an instant directly; a date without an offset is interpreted in the chosen zone, with the selected resolution for missing or repeated local times.

Batch results and export

Batch mode retains line positions and reports invalid rows individually. Its CSV includes input, converted value, UTC and error columns; JSON keeps the structured results. Single conversions offer additional unit and UTC values under Precision details.

Processing limits

ISO calendar dates, nanosecond precision and explicit time zones. Cron uses five fields, up to 50 runs within 10 years, reference years 1900–2199 and a 5-second processing limit. Time-zone data comes from your browser. Processing stays on your device.

Frequently asked questions

Can I convert fractional seconds?

Yes. Seconds allow up to 9 decimal places, milliseconds 6, microseconds 3 and nanoseconds none. Excess precision is reported rather than silently rounded.

Does a Unix timestamp have a time zone?

It represents an instant relative to the UTC epoch. The chosen zone changes the readable local date and clock time, not the instant.

Why did automatic detection choose the wrong unit?

A number alone cannot always reveal its unit. Automatic detection uses common magnitudes; choose seconds, milliseconds, microseconds or nanoseconds explicitly when you know the source format.

Does Pause stop the conversion forms?

No. Pause freezes only the live timestamp display. The conversion forms remain available and update from their own input.

Does one bad batch row stop the whole batch?

No. Invalid rows keep their positions and show errors while valid rows are converted. Review the errors before reusing the exported data.
