How to use
- Enter the exact text or full URL to encode.
- Choose error correction, colors, size and quiet zone, then generate.
- Download PNG or SVG and test it with a reader before sharing.
What a static QR code contains
The entered content is stored directly in the QR symbol. A URL code opens that destination when scanned; it does not use a DevToolsy tracking link or redirect service.
Once a code is printed, changing the input here cannot update it. The destination website may change independently, but the encoded characters remain fixed.
Capacity and error correction
More content makes the symbol denser. Higher error correction can help tolerate damage but leaves less capacity for the content.
Use a shorter URL or less text if the chosen content and correction level exceed capacity. The tool does not create a shortened destination URL for you.
https://devtoolsy.comStatic QR code containing https://devtoolsy.comThe generated symbol stores this URL directly; no redirect or tracking identifier is added.
Making the code readable
The quiet zone is the blank border around the symbol; the default is four modules. Keep that border clear when placing the code in another design.
Use a dark foreground against a light background and test the final size. Different colors are accepted, but the generator does not certify that every color pair will scan reliably.
Choosing an export format
PNG is a fixed pixel image at the selected size. SVG is a vector file that can scale for print or layout; test the final exported design with the readers your audience uses.
Still PNG, JPEG and WebP: 20 MiB, 24 megapixels and 8,192 pixels per side. Base64: 2 MiB. SVG: 1 MiB. File inspection: 1 GiB with only the first 256 bytes read. Browser codec support varies. No files are uploaded.
Frequently asked questions
Will a generated QR code expire?
The code itself has no service expiry. A URL it contains can still become unavailable, change content or require access independently.
Can I change the destination after printing?
No. This is a static QR code with the destination stored inside it. Generate and distribute a new code if the encoded text changes.
Should I choose PNG or SVG?
Use PNG when a pixel image is required. SVG is useful when you need a scalable vector asset; retain the quiet zone in either format.
Why does my code fail to scan?
Check the content, foreground/background contrast, blank border, density and final display or print size. Try the downloaded file with more than one reader.
Is my text or URL uploaded to generate the code?
No. Generation runs in your browser. Scanning a URL code can later contact that URL through the reader, which is separate from generating it here.
